Jenny Wren is the childhood nickname of Jenny Harrington, bestowed upon her by her grandmother when young Jenny was helping in the garden while trying to talk to the birds.
For over twenty years Jenny has been gardening both east and west of the Cascades. She earned a degree in biology, with a focus on botany, at Spokane Falls College, before continuing her education in environmental education at Western Washington University.
Before launching Jenny Wren Gardening, she previously worked as a university herbarium technician, a field teaching assistant in the botany department at SFCC, and at Smith’s Gardens here in Bellingham — where she became known as the go-to gal for those seeking planting advice at various retail outlets in Whatcom and Skagit county.
Plants are her passion for both work and play. She spends her free time volunteering as a native plant steward in Whatcom County and spends her time off puttering in her own extensive gardens.
Not only does Jenny bring a love of plants to your garden, she also brings a lifetime and knowledge and hands-on experience. If she doesn’t know the solution to your gardening dilemma, rest assured that she will find it!
Meet Mouse: Jenny gets a lot of questions about her trustworthy work truck, Mouse.
Mouse is a 1992 Suzuki Carry, which is a Japanese lightweight mini-truck. Mouse doesn’t go too fast so doesn’t spend time on the highway, but he is the perfect steed to take Jenny to her gardening clients around Whatcom County.
If you see Jenny and Mouse around town, feel free to say hi and ask questions. They always have time to meet new people!
